Hardware shop destroyed in fire

SAMBA, Sept 7: Hardware, sanitary and furniture goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes as the shop dealing with these items in main border road market of Samba caught fire this evening.
Seeing fire coming out of the shop people informed the police and Fire Safety Department, following which the fire tender was rushed to the spot. The fire was so severe that it almost took one hour for the fire officials to control the blaze. The shop, known as Chain Shah Hardware Store having paints and other furniture and sanitary merchandise were completely gutted in the fire that broke out in the shop.
According to Ravi Gupta owner of the Hardware Store, “at around 8 pm, some people saw flames coming out of his shop and they immediately informed him. “Before I could reach the venue, fire had already engulfed the third floor after completely gutting everything on the ground and the first and second floor”, he added.
The fire outbreak is expected to have caused a damage of lakhs in the shop, he said.
Fire officials said while the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, the circumstantial evidence suggested that the fire could have been caused due to short circuit in the shop. They said the exact loss caused to the shop was yet to be ascertain.
