Hardcore poppy straw supplier lands in police net

JAMMU, June 3: A hardcore poppy straw supplier landed in Gadigarh police net.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gadigarh police post laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AT-5895 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
Police recovered 4.5 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle during checking and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Gurmeet Singh alias Kucchi, son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Upper Gadigarh.
During preliminary inquiry, it came to fore that the accused is a hardcore poppy straw supplier and was playing a major role to make the youth drug addicts.
With the arrest of the accused, police achieved a major success to save the youth from falling in the trap of dug menace.
A case under FOR Number 120/17 under Section 8/15/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Satwari police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Gadigarh police post SI Jaswinder made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
