Hardcore narcotics smuggler booked under PSA

UDHAMPUR, July 27: Udhampur Police today booked a hardcore narcotics smuggler under Public Safety Act and detained him.
Identified as Umar Jaan, son of Imam Din of Maani Kasuri, Ramnagar, A/P H.No. 39, Phase one Housing Colony, Udhampur, the accused is said to be main suppliers of narcotics to local youth.
According to SSP Udhampur, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the said narcotics smuggler was a habitual criminal and number of times had been arrested in different cases of heinous nature, including narcotics and bovine smuggling, attempt to murder, house breaking and theft besides other criminal cases.
A dossier with regard to his criminal activities was prepared and submitted before District Magistrate, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar, who after careful consideration issued orders of his detention under Public Safety Act.
A team of PS Udhampur, led by Inspector Vijay Choudhary (SHO), under the supervision of Kulbir Handa, DySP HQ, executed the warrant for detention under Public Safety Act.
Pertinent to mention that the Police has established NARC Cell at Udhampur, which is vigorously working on preparing _database of all hardcore criminals, narcotic smugglers and  bovine smugglers who are frequently found involved in various intermingled criminal cases, especially those affecting youth.  NARC Cell is first of its kind set up in the State, tasked to unearth the network of organised crimes so that all hardcore criminal could also be booked under stringent laws besides attachment of the property raised through illegal means.
