Har Navmi-birthday of Mata Sharika celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, July 8: Har Navmi -the birthday of Mata Sharika Bhagwati was celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety today.
In this connection a grand function was held at Chakreshwar, Hari Parbat Srinagar and Dhoke Paloura Jammu where large number of devotees thronged from early morning to pay their obeisance to Goddess the presiding deity of Kashmiri Hindus.
At Chakreshwar Hawan was performed which started on Har Saptmi on July 6 and culminated with Puranahuti and distribution of Prashad on Ashtami yesterday. The birthday of Mata was celebrated today with Pooja -Archna and Prashad distribution of Prasad at both shrines i.e Dhoke Paloura and Hariparbat, Srinagar. At Jammu Pooja archana was performed and devotees chanting Vedic mantras and Bhajan Kirtan throughout the night to invoke the blessings of Goddess for mankind.
The president of the Sanstha, Ranjit Gorkha said the Sanstha had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees at both the shrines in Jammu and Srinagar.
The Jayanti of Goddess Sharika was also celebrated at Sharika Peeth Subash Nagar by the Sharika Peeth Sanstha headed by M K Jalali, president of Sanstha. A large number of devotees thronged the temple premises to participate in the religious function and paid their obeisance to Goddess. On the occasion, the devotees recited Panchastavi, Bhawani Sahastranamawali and prayed for prosperity of mankind.
Besides, Samohik Puja and Pushparchana was also performed followed by distribution of Prasad.
Meanwhile, Har Ashtami was also celebrated at Kheer Bhawani Manzgam in South Kashmir district of Kulgam by the devotees who performed Pushp Archana. Maha Ragni Sahasternam was recited under the guidance of Vijay Shanker Lahori vice president of the Sanstha. A large number of devotees participated and they were served Prasad. President of the Sanstha, Kuldeep Raina said elaborate arrangements were made for the visiting devotees by the Sanstha.
