JAMMU: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoor today convened a review meeting to have a comprehensive review of progress under the centrally and State sponsored schemes implemented by the department.
The Meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, Agriculture Production Department Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Showkat Ahmad Beigh, Director Agriculture, Jammu H.K. Razdan, Director Agriculture, Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, Director Command Area Development, Jammu, Director Commmand Area Development, Kashmir, MD Agro Industries Development Corporation and other senior officer of the Department.
During the meeting the minister was informed about the achievements registered under schemes like Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, procurement of Mushkibudji rice, progress made on digging of bore well under Saffron Mission, and ongoing projects under Command Area development.
During the meeting the officers apprised the Minister about the expenditure made on these schemes in first three quarters of the current financial years.
Hanjura said the government is making all out efforts for sustained growth of the agriculture sector by introducing several innovative measures to enable farmers to get maximum returns from their land.
During the meeting the Minister directed the concerned officers to increase expenditure level under all the schemes and ensure targets are optimally achieved.
He said the intervention schemes and framer welfare schemes are designed to double the farmers’ income by 2022. He asked experts to lay special thrust on Apiculture, Mushroom growing and Integrated Farming in the State. He also stressed on promoting Bee keeping in the areas having potential for seed production and orchards, which not only help in honey production but also enhance pollination, quality seed production and fruit production.
Hanjura directed that village committees should be established on co-operative patterns to give boost to Agricultural activities. He also told the Department to establish integrated farming management system across all the constituencies during the financial year 2018-18.
He also stressed that women self help groups should be constituted under ATMA.
