JAMMU, Jan 1: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura inaugurated the Techn-ology Park of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu-another visionary contemplation to establish a land unit in the campus of SKUAST-J to display the proven technologies generated and standardized by its different units from time to time under one roof in a highly convincing and communicable mode.
While taking a round of the Technology Park, the Minister was accompanied by Professor PK Sharma, Vice Chancellor and other officers and scientific staff of the University besides Dr BC Sharma, Professor and Head, Division of Agronomy and Coordinator of the Technology Park.
Vice Chancellor gave field to field briefing of the different technologies to the Minister besides the sole objective of this new endeavor conceptualized as Technology Park wherein ready to take off technologies of this University will find their place to update the field staff of the line departments and the farming community who are the ultimate stake holders about the latest scientific regarding crop improvement, productivity enhancement and its sustainability, natural resource and plant protection management in a highly persuasive way.
Minister showed his keen interest on the newly developed ready to disseminate technological outcomes of the University like RCT in basmati rice-wheat system, temporal management of wheat in basmati rice-wheat system, intensification of basmati rice-wheat system, pigeonpea and its ratooned crop with short duration pulses for higher profits, pinching methods marigold, gravity fed drip and micro sprinkler irrigation system, newly released varieties of wheat, mustard and vegetable crops of SKUAST-Jammu displayed in the Technology Park.
He stated that innovative model for conveying the scientific message to the stake holders in a very simplified way would definitely help the stake holders in doubling their income in the time to come.
The Minister also unveiled calendar of SKUAST-Jammu.
On the occasion, Dr JP Sharma, Director Research, Dr KS Risam, Director Extension, Dr TAS Ganai, Director Education, Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning, Dr Dileep Kachroo, Registrar, Comptroller, Dr DP Abrol, Dean FOA and other officers and scientists of SKUAST-J were also present.
