NEW DELHI: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today met with Union Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh here to review the progress on the proposals submitted by the State Government to the Union Agriculture Ministry.
During the meeting, it was decided that Spice Park Dussoo, Pulwama will be made functional during the current financial year and the Saffron will be covered under weather-based insurance schemes for which tendering will be floated shortly.
On the occasion, Hanjura stressed for extension of National Saffron Mission for 5 more years so that the Saffron production can match the best in the world and the benefits of irrigation and Spice Park would reach to Saffron growers of the State.
During the meeting, it was also decided that the DPR for setting up of Saffron Park at Kishtwar will be submitted within a month to the Centre to give a boost to Saffron production in Kishtwar.
It was decided that Saffron Research Project will be set up at SKUAST (J) which will be funded by the Central Agriculture Ministry.
The Union Agriculture Minister assured the State Agriculture Minister of all possible financial assistance to the State to boost agriculture production.
