JAMMU, Aug 27:  As a mark of respect to the locals who participated  and contributed towards  the success of operations, the Hajipir brigade  of the Army at Trehgam celebrated  `Hajipir Day’ by organizing series of events.
Hajipir Day,  marks  the successful endeavour of the Army to provide secured environment to the people of Kupwara district through capture of famous `Hajipir Pass’ in 1965. To commemorate this day, the army  and locals celebrated the day with great enthusiasm at Trehgam garrison. On this day,   8600 ft high Hajipir pass near Uri was successfully captured in a swift outflanking move by the troops of the brigade. It was a bold day light attack from two directions thereby, overwhelming move of the troops before enemy reinforcement could reach them. This gallant act prevented Pakistani raiders from entering Kashmir from Poonch side.
As a part of this programme several events including medical camp were organized by the Army brigade at Trehgam garrison. A large number of locals participated.
