SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today paid obeisance at holy Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas and prayed for sustained peace and harmony in the state on the opening day of two-month-long yatra which commenced from Baltal today.
Mr Vohra aid obeisance at the Sanctum Sanctorum and participated in the puja ceremony and prayed for sustained peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the state. After the visit to the shrine early this morning, the Governor also reviewed the arrangements made for the pilgrims at the yatra shrine camp. He also conveyed the Shrine Board’s thanks to the state government, Army, Central Para Military Forces, state police and all the other concerned agencies for their support and cooperation. He stressed the need for effective supervision and round the clock monitoring by the Camp Directors and all the functionaries involved in the management of the yatra for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
From the Shrine, the Governor flew to Neelgrath Helipad, near Baltal Base Camp, where he flagged-off the Neelgrath-Panjtarni helicopter services which are being operated by Global Vectra Heli Corp Ltd and Pawan Hans Ltd. Ms Usha Vohra, First Lady, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) R K Gupta of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), Lt General Subrata Saha, GOC,15 Corps also paid obeisance at the shrine, along with other senior officers of SASB, government, police and security forces. From Neelgrath, the Governor proceeded to Pahalgam where, along with Minister for Tourism, G A Mir and Rafi Ahmad Mir, MLA, Pahalgam, and inaugurated the Pahalgam-Panjtarni helicopter services which are being operated by Himalayan Heli Services Ltd.
After inaugurating the Heli Services at Neelgrath and Pahalgam, the Governor visited the Baltal Base Camp and the Access Control Gate at Domail where he reviewed the manner in which the yatris were being checked and cleared. Meanwhile, CEO, SASB has once again appealed to the intending yatris to embark on the pilgrimage only after getting medically checked and obtaining a valid yatra permit.
This would ensure against any avoidable inconvenience to them.
The CEO said the Board has also issued a detailed Advisory of Do’s and Don’ts for the pilgrims visiting the Amarnath.
The yatris need to strictly adhere to these Do’s and Don’ts as they have to undertake an arduous trek through high mountain ranges under adverse weather conditions. (UNI)
