Gurukul tradition basis of India’s culture: Shankaracharya

JAMMU, Sept 16: Choodamani Sanskrit Sansthan Basohli, Shere-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Jammu, Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus Jammu and Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, Jammu jointly organized a special lecture under Dr Uttam Chandra Shastri Birth Centenary celebrations.
Under the various programs organized under the aegis, a special lecture of Shankaracharya Swami Adhokshajanand Dev Teerth Maharaj ji was organized in the Central Sanskrit University Shri Ranbir campus.
The chief guest of the program was former minister and Jammu and Kashmir BJP vice-president Sham Lal Sharma. The guest of honour of the program was DIG Shakti Pathak, Security Advisor of Jammu Raj Bhavan, the guest of honor was Prof. Madan Mohan Jha, Director, CSU and SKUAST Vice Chancellor Prof. JP Sharma presided over the program.
While speaking on the occasion Shankaracharya Swami Ji said that Sanskrit is necessary for the nation. Sanskrit is the soul of the nation, it is the culture of the nation. Gurukul tradition is the basis of India’s culture, it is the soul of India’s eternal culture. It does not discriminate against anyone. All beings are equal in this tradition.
Sham Lal Sharma said that Sanskrit and Dogri preserve the Sanatan culture. “We all should work together for the upliftment of Sanatan culture. Saraswat Atithi Shakti Pathak said that there are many forms of education. At the same time, it is necessary to have discretion in education. Along with it, there is every kind of knowledge in Sanskrit. Without it the society is incomplete,” he added.
Vice Chancellor JP Sharma said that Sanskrit works to connect everyone. It creates rituals.
Campus Director Prof Madan Mohan Jha presented the vote of thanks to the guests.
The program was conducted by the Head of the Department of English Sharat Chandra Sharma. Vinod Bargodia, president of Mahavir Seva Sadan, RK Chhibber, former director of JK Bank, Rajdev Singh, Sarpanch of Bhalwal Gram Panchayat, member of the organizing committee, Mahant Rohit Shastri, Chairman of Shri Kailak Jyotish and Vedic Trust, Advisor Ankush Sharma, spokesperson Chetan Wanchoo, Rakesh Gandotra. Pramod Sharma were also present besides Prof Satish Kapoor, KK Sharma Director Agriculture Jammu, Pawan Khajuria, Rakesh Jamwal, Ajay Sharma, Bhushan Baral, Ashok Sharma, Rakesh Gandotra and others.
