JAMMU, Feb 5: In connection with the 646th birth anniversary of Guru Ravi Dass Ji various functions were organized at different places across Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The main function in connection with Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti was held at the temple of Guru Ravi Dass Ji at Krishna Nagar, Canal Road, near GGM Science College, Jammu. A large number of devotees participated in the function and offered special prayers at the temple. It was organized by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Jammu (J&K), led by its president, Piran Ditta.
Former Minister and Working president of JKPCC, Raman Bhalla was the chief guest while former Chief Secretary, BR Kundal guest of honour. The head of Trade and Commerce Cell of JKPCC and president Katra Hoteliers Association Rakesh Wazir was special invitee to the function. Click here to watch video
While speaking on the occasion, Bhalla and Kundal congratulated people on this occasion and appealed them to follow the teachings of great Saint, Guru Ravi Dass Ji. They said the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji are more relevant even today. The great Saint gave the message of love, brotherhood and equality. Wazir also addressed the gathering and congratulated the people on this occasion.
Piran Ditta, president, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha while speaking on the occasion reffered to the teachings and message of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. He said Sant Ravi Dass Ji has shown the path of love, brotherhood and equality.
He demanded that new Parliament complex at Delhi be named on the name of Dr B R Ambedkar. He also demanded that reserved category employees from Jammu region, posted in Kashmir be adjusted in Jammu region and a definite transfer policy be framed for them as they are facing threat to their lives in Kashmir. He also demanded that their pending salaries should also be released.
Several senior members of the Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, including senior vice president Dr Rajpal Hans, general secretary Darshan Rana, treasurer Raj Kumar Raja, Ramesh Hans and Joginder Digra also spoke on the occasion.
Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Rajpura Mangotrian took out `Parbhat Pheri’ in connection with the Parkash Utsav of great Guru.
BJP Anusuchit Jati Morcha (SC Morcha) celebrated Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti at Party office Trikuta Nagar, Jammu today. State office bearers of SC Morcha, district body team members, DDCs, BDCs, Corporators and many others paid floral tributes great Guru. BJP SC Morcha president Neelam Langeh, state Parbhari of the Morcha Jagdish Bhagat, Dr Krishan Lal (Ex-MLA) and others spoke on the occasion.
Similar function was organized at Salehar in Bishnah by a voluntary organization Sanklap in association with Dr Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi. Sham Lal, Principal, Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Training Institute Jammu was the chief guest and Vijay Kumar, National Youth awardee was the guest of honour. The speakers threw light on the life of teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji.
At Bhaderwah, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha under the leadership of Swami Raj took out a Jhanki/ Shobha Yatra in the town and adjoining areas in connection with the Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti. S D Sabha president, Varinder Razdan and many others also accompanied. Razdan and Swami Raj while speaking appealed people to follow the teachings of great Guru.
Similar functions were organized by various district and tehsil units of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha and other organizations across the region today.
