Gurpurab celebrated across J&K

JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Jan 17: The 357th Birth anniversary of 10th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across the Jammu and Kashmir today.

A grand function in this connection was held at Gurdwara Digiana (Digiana Ashram), Jammu where a large number of people from the Sikh community and Ragi Jathas from various parts of the region and outside (Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar/ UP etc) participated. The Sikh Sangat including women and children had started visiting Gurdwara since early morning for offering special prayers on Gurpurab.
Various Sikh organisations including Sikh United Front, Sikh Coordination Committeee, Shiromani Akali Dal and others jointly coordinated this grand religious programme and assisted the committee in decorating Gurdwara and making other arrangements including community Langar.
Mahant Manjit Singh, head priest of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, delivered sermons on the occasion and spoke on the sacrifices made by the great Guru for the religion and humanity. He said Guru Gobind Singh Ji sacrificed his entire family for the cause of humanity and religion. He asked the youth and Sangat to adopt the path shown by the great Guru.
Several other religious preachers/ community leaders including Sudarshan Singh Wazir (Head-SUF), Ajit Singh (Head-SCC) also spoke on the occasion and greeted Sikh Sangat on the occasion of Gurpurab.
Meanwhile, the Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji was observed today across Kashmir, with the main celebration at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi Rainawari, Srinagar.
Members of the Sikh community arrived at Chatti Padshahi from various parts of Kashmir early in the morning, participating in special prayers for the occasion.
Children, women, and elderly individuals were seen joining the celebrations, with volunteers serving meals to those arriving at the Gurdwara.
Special prayers and keertan continued throughout the day, and the dedicated kitchen remained operational, providing meals to the devotees.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, and IGP, Kashmir, VK. Birdi, also visited Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi Rainawari, participating in the special prayers.
Bidhuri expressed his greetings on the occasion and prayed for prosperity, highlighting the tradition in Kashmir where both the people and the administration work for the smooth conduct of such events.
Gurdwara Nanak Satsang Taraf Sanji, Kathua also celebrates 357th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with full devotion. A grand Kirtan- darbaar was organised on this occasion . On January 15, Shri Akhand Path was started and today Akhand Path Bhog was offered. Ragi Jatha  of Bhai Baljeet Singh Hauzri Ragi Singh Sabha  District Gurdwara Kathua  with his melodious voice recited sermons (Gurbani Path) on this occasion.
Biwi Tavleen Kaur, Manseerat Kour, Gursirat Kaur, Mansimar Kour and Anhadpreet Singh also recited Gurbani Kirtan on this occasion. Several preachers expressed their views and threw light on the life and contribution of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
President of the Gurdwara Committee, Gurcharan Singh extended vote of thanks on the occasion.
Similar functions were held at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch, Dera Nangali Sahib and other parts of the region.
