JAMMU, Nov 13: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor, Gurmeet Kour Randhawa here today started construction work of deep-drain with an estimated cost of Rs. 23 lakh at Sector-C of Sainik Colony.
Completion of the deep-drain will give a big relief to the people of Sector-C in Sainik Colony as construction of shops and malls along the national highway had choked all water outlets to Sunjwan Nallah which resulted in flooding residential areas in the Sector-C.
Water used to accumulate around houses even on a slight rainfall making it comfortable place for mosquito breeding and water borne diseases.
During monsoon season the residents had approached Councillor Randhawa with the problem after which she took many initiatives and now the construction of deep-drain has started today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Councillor urged upon the residents to avoid single use plastic as it chokes drains.
