JAMMU, Mar 6: Two days training of master trainers on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) organized by Gurgia Charities and National Development Foundation concluded today.
About 30 master trainers from different part of Jammu division viz. Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch were trained during the training programme.
Seema Sahai, CEO, Gurgia Charities, SM Sahai, ADG CID, Rajiv Khajuria, Chief Executive Officer, NDF and Parvinder Singh, Programme Manager, NDF were the resource persons during the training programme.
Participants were trained on various topics including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), water conservation, rain water harvesting, water security plans etc.
Sunny Kumar, Programme Coordinator, NDF trained the participants on water testing using field testing kits.
These master trainers will further train the village, water and sanitation committees and will also aware the communities on water, sanitation and hygiene and importance of rain water harvesting, water conservation, water security plans and water testing to change the behavior of rural people to adopt hygienic practices, adopting household toilets and managing their water resources including water supply schemes.
Seema Sahai asked the trainers to set up achievable targets so that proper implementation can be done. She asked the trainers to conduct the follow up visits to assess the level of awareness among the communities and fulfill the gaps where required.
SM Sahai stressed the need of change of mindset among the rural people regarding open defecation and WASH considering their local needs and ideologies. He asked them to aware the people on ill effects of poor sanitation at household level in particular and community level in general.
