JAMMU, Mar 6: Artists of the Kingdom of Belgium arrived here today in Jammu from Brussels.
Artists of the group Dalton Drum Syndicate of Brussels (Belgium) are here in Jammu in connection with their performance ‘Percussions of Belgium’, being organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages, which will be held at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu on Monday, 7th of March, 2016 at 6 pm.
Rakesh Gupta, Principal Secretary, Forests, Ecology and Environment will be the chief guest on the occasion and ICCR has kept the entry to the show free of charges and seats will be offered on first come first basis.
Four accomplished artists from Belgium, who arrived here today, include, Marc Van Eyck, Renaud Van Hooland, Maximilien Lenssens, and Patrick Dorcean. They are part of famous group Dalton Drum Syndicate of Brussels (Belgium).
On their maiden visit to Jammu, they were accorded traditional reception by Balwant Thakur, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Regional Director ICCR was accompanied by the representatives of J&K Cultural Academy.
Dalton Drum Syndicate was founded in the summer of 1998. After having jammed together for a Brussels drum shops birthday, two of the actual drummers decided to work out something for real. A year later DDS was born. They performed on a lot of festivals and events including: Cap Sud festival, Theatre de poche, Gentse Feesten, Percufollas Le Muy (France), Couleur café festival, Midi Minuit, Paulusfeesten, Gentse feesten, Tambours de fêtes Charleville (France), Hallen van Schaerbeek, MTV night Belgium, Bulex party s, Amnesty International Event Antwerp, grand place Brussels, as well as jazz clubs, private events and parties.
