GUREZ, Aug 12: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi today inaugurated Panchayat Ghar at Dawar-Gurez.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the achievements registered by the government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. He listed the vast development works launched, completed and commissioned during the last five and a half years. He mentioned that the unprecedented financial support extended by the Central Government to the state for its holistic development and added several developmental programmes have been launched in Gurez tehsil with the aim to improve the living standard for the people of the area.
He said that crores of rupees have been spent under MGNREGA during the last year in the State through Panchayats. He said that funds are being directly transferred to the Panchayats for implementing various works, adding that prompt action has been taken on genuine complaints and the Panchayat Members involve were reprimanded for erring.
Earlier, the Minister visited Sheetal Bagh Park and took stock of the developmental works under execution there. He directed the executing agencies to handover the Park to the concerned department within a month. Mr. Gurezi asked the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive plan for construction of PHE and Tourism huts near Sheetal Bagh park and submit the same to the concerned quarter for release of funds funding.
Later, the Minister visited Gujran Tulail area and inspected Medical Aid Centre. He enquired about the medicare facilities available in the centre.
District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr. Shah Faisal, SDM, Gurez and other officers and engineers of PHE, Tourism, R&B, Revenue, Floriculture, Agriculture and Power Development Department accompanied the Minister during his tour.
