JAMMU, June 16: The former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has impressed upon the Govt. to ensure at least the proper supply of rations including the sugar through Public Distribution System to the consumers according to fixed scale and rates. Responding to the mounting complaints of the people even in the City of Jammu, not to say of far-off areas, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that notwithstanding to the repeated assurances by the Minister concerned, the consumers are not being supplied 35 kgs of ration including the wheat atta and rice. At the most each ration card holder is being supplied 20 kg (Tow bags) of wheat, atta and 5 kgs of rice. That too is not supplied at time and the consumers have to visit the depots several times to get their rations. He also assailed the Government for not making arrangements for supply of sugar and asked the concerned authorities to explain why this is not being done, and what is the hitch in adopting the new system. The activists of Jammu West Assembly Constituency and some other areas also brought to the notice of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta the problems of sanitation, aweful condition of Janipora and other roads, incomplete developmental works, power cuts scheduled and unscheduled, poor supply of drinking water, congestion, over loading etc. Prof. Gupta observed that all these problems indicate the poor functioning of authorities and misgovernance resulting in all round resentment and demonstrations. He hoped the men in authority would realise their duties and responsibilities.
