JAMMU, May 10: The former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has condemned the harassment of the electorates who cast their votes in Kashmir and stressed for firm measures to tackle the menace of terror and secessionism.
Commenting upon the reports that separatists and ultras were harassing the electorates in Baramulla and other places for casting votes for Lok Sabha polls, Prof Gupta said that it was strange that the authorities are failing to take action against the elements openly thrashing the electorates who exercised their right of vote while little action is being taken against those who preached boycott and now harassing the voters on one pretext or the other.
He said that repeated boycotts indicate the weakness of the Government leaders who too wanted such boycotts so that they may not have depend upon the large number of voters.
Prof Gupta also impressed on the Election Commission of India to take note of the sad happenings in Kashmir during and after the polling.
