JAMMU, June 28: Independent MLA from Udhampur Pawan Gupta has also moved amendment to `Transfer of Property Act’, introduced in the Legislative Assembly by Revenue Minister Basharat Bukhari, which is scheduled to be taken up for consideration and passing on June 30.
Gupta told the Excelsior that he was the first MLA to move amendment to what he called “highly controversial bill”. Through the amendment, he said, he has sought withdrawal of the bill from the House.
As reported, BJP MLA from Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia has also moved an amendment to the bill seeking its withdrawal.
The bill was aimed at freezing attorney and agreement to sell etc in Jammu division to prevent non-permanent residents from purchasing land, which the legislators feel will totally kill the ‘industry’ in Jammu.
The BJP high command has also directed the party Ministers to get the bill withdrawn from the Legislature.
