JAMMU, Jan 2: J&K president of National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI), Rajesh Gupta flayed the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities and said that every year precious lives are lost due to the faulty system.
“While the officers of PDD are seen grieving every death of men on duty yet the incidents of negligence are repeated,” he claimed.
Referring to yesterday’s incident of Kampla, Reasi where the labourer repairing an electric line died of electrocution as the power supply was released from the feeding station, Gupta urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to save these precious lives by making some fool proof arrangements by providing world class equipments to these men while at work.
The NDPI leader said before sending the casual labourers for repairing power lines, the concerned JE and other field staff should check the line and conduct a test.
In a handout he stated that it has seen several times that PDD employees die due to department’s negligence.
“11 KV hand gloves can prevent electrocution. But unfortunately these gloves for safety are not available with J&K PDD. Earthing link rods, safety belts, helmets etc are also not available with J&K PDD,” he said adding, had such safety kits made available, such mishaps would be prevented.
