Gupta describes Rahul as Rajiv

SRINAGAR, Oct 3:
BJP legislative party leader in the State Legislative Assembly (LA) Prof Chaman Lal Gupta was today corrected by members when he described Rahul Gandhi as Rajiv Gandhi.
The Congress in the State, which is in coalition with the National Conference (NC) in the Government, has been raising the issue of implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments in the State.
“The Congress party is holding dharna and demonstrations against the Government for not empowering the Sarpanchs and Panchs in the State, but enjoys power together,” Prof Gupta said accusing Congress of double standards.
“Now Rajiv Gandhi is arriving here to raise this issue”, Prof Gupta said. However, the House burst into laughter and he immediately realised his mistake but could not recall the name of Rahul Gandhi. He was later corrected by members from nearby seats.
Later, he said not Rajiv but Rahul Gandhi is arriving here to join the demand of local Congress leaders for implementing the amendments in the State when Congress was part of the coalition.
Earlier, he said besides, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon were not present in the House, which is discussing LPG crisis when the issue came up.
He was again corrected by the members that Mr Akhoon was present in the House. (UNI)
