Gupta criticizes Govt for cutting 70 pc budget on rural water scheme

UDHAMPUR, May 18: MLA Udhampur Assembly Constituency, Pawan Gupta today inaugurated the new Ration Depot in village Seen Thakrean.
A function was held in the village on the occasion in which a large number of people participated.
Kamla Devi, a local lady highlighted the problem of drinking water. She disclosed that it is unfortunate their area is facing  drinking water problem as PHE Department has not installed pipelines for the supply of drinking water after independence of the country with the result people of the area are depended on natural source of water.
The people of Thell Mohalla demanded  upgradation of electric transformer 63 KV to 100 KV to avoid the problem of low voltage. They also highlighted the scarcity of drinking water. People of Panetar village under the leadership of Kuldeep Singh also demanded installation of 25 KV transformer and electric poles. Speakers of village Auss demanded the construction of road from village Auss to village Seen Bramna, Baba Pard, the same road can be developed as alternative road Udhampur to Karta.
They disclosed this alternative road will  benefit to the people of about one hundred villages of Udhampur and Reasi Assembly constituencies. They also demanded to make functional the closed canal of the area to boost the agricultural activities and up gradation of Government Middle School to High School.
While addressing the gathering MLA Pawan Gupta assured the people that very soon their demands will be brought into the notice of concerned authorities for early and appropriate disposal.
On the issue of supply of drinking water Pawan Gupta disclosed that the supply of drinking water has been badly affected due to the strike of employees of PHE Department. He expressed that the demands of employees are genuine but it is unfortunate the government is not keen for early solution.
Mr Gupta further said that it is again unfortunate Government has cut down 70% budget of National Rural Drinking Water Scheme resulting several projects under this scheme cannot initiated. Raj Kumar Bucha , Kuldeep Kumar, Tara Singh, Rohit Sethi, Raj Muhummad Chandel, Navneet Gupta, Sarpanch Balwan Singh, Sarpanch Jeevan Sharma, Aditya Gupta Chan Singh and Shiv Lal  were also present in the function among others.
