JAMMU, Dec 7: Strongly indicting the National Conference leader, Dr. Farooq Abdullah for siding with the separatist Hurriyat leaders of Kashmir, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that it was unfortunate that the son is belittling his tall father, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who had publically pledged that he would never accept the two nations theory of Mohammad Ali Jinnah till last drop of his blood.
What can be more ridiculous than that Dr. Farooq made this declaration at a function which was organized to remember the great Sheikh on his birthday, he added and asked the men of National Conference in Jammu to come out clearly that whether they support their leader for extending all out help to the elements spearheading the violence and making the peace loving people of the Valley as their hostages by employing stone pelters and publically thrashing those who did not go by the Calendar Raj of the Jehadi leaders operating at the dictates of handlers of cross border terror and waging a hybrid war as has been termed recently by some expert generals.
Prof. Gupta said that it is not new in habit of Farooq to act as a political juggler to change his instance and colour. There were reports that in sixties Farooq had taken an oath from JKLF chief to liberate Kashmir from India and then it is also on record that Farooq pleaded for bombing of the terrorist training camps across the LoC. Hence, there is not much that he should be taken seriously but it is bad that Farooq has not learnt any lesson from the past.
He said that there appears that Farooq is eyeing on by-elections to two Lok Sabha seats viz Srinagar and Anantnag. By his acrobats the NC leader intends to have his pound of flesh out of the turmoil in the Valley but it would be too early to comment that whether Farooq would be able to gain the support of those who have been traditionally adversaries of the Sheikh and his NC.
But by indulging in pro-terror and pro-bigotry utterances the NC leaders are spoiling what the Sheikh had earned as being a staunch believer of secularism through his slogans of respect for all the religious faiths.
