SRINAGAR, July 23: A gun battle broke out this afternoon in the Lolab forest area in district Kupwara after security forces launched an operation today.

“Security forces have established contact with terrorists near Trimukha Top, Lolab, Kupwara. Operation in progress,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on ‘X’.
An official said that security forces laid multiple ambushes in the forest area of Lolab after inputs about the presence of a group of militants there. He said that security forces established contact with the militants leading to firing from both the sides.
The operation was suspended for the night and would be resumed in the morning.
