SRINAGAR, May 6: A gun battle broke out between militants and security forces in Redwani Payeen area of Kulgam district today.

An official said that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in Redwani.
As the security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the security forces, triggering off a gunfight.
The exchange of firing between militants and security forces is on.
