SRINAGAR: World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and some other upper reaches received fresh snowfall while rain lashed plains in Kashmir, resulting in dip in the day temperature.
Meanwhile, the night temperature remained below normal across Kashmir valley, where rain and snow is predicted till Friday.
A Met department spokesperson said that light rain and snow would occur during the next 48 hours at fairly widespread places in the valley. “Rain and snow would occur at isolated places on Friday in Kashmir,” he said, adding the weather will remain dry during the subsequent three days from Saturday.
However, he said a fresh Western Disturbance (WD), which originated from the Arabian Sea and will approach through Afghanistan and Pakistan, will hit the region on March 19. “Under the influence of the WD, more rain and snow would occur in the region,” he added.
The ski slopes at Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received fresh snowfall since early this morning, much to the delight of skiers and tourists, who were out enjoying various snow activities. The maximum temperature in the ski resort was over 3 degree below normal. (AGENCIES)
