JAMMU, Dec 12: The Committee of Ethics of Legislative Assembly today met the Speaker Lok Sabha Meira Kumar and discussed with her various issues related to parliamentary affairs and working of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
The Speaker, who was heading the committee, also informed the Lok Sabha Speaker about the deliberations at Common Wealth Parliamentary Conference (CWPA) attended by him at Jonesburg South Africa.
Mr Gul gave a brief detail about the functioning and activities of the J&K Assembly. The Speaker also briefed the Speaker Lok Sabha about the textbooks available in the Assembly Secretariat library.
Mr. Gul informed her that the books of various saints and religious scholars like Lal Ded and Sheikh Noor-Din-Wali (RA) are available in the state library. He requested her to keep copies of these prestigious textbooks in the Parliament. He also informed that the J&K Assembly Secretariat Library would soon have a website with digitalised books available on line.
He also briefed the Speaker about the session held in September at summer capital and informed that the direction was given to the Government to ensure presence of one gazetted officer of each department in officer’s gallery to note down the important public interest issues raised by the legislators during Zero Hour. He informed that the directions produced good results as the Government acted swiftly to the public issues.
Chairman Ethics Committee of J&K Assembly Aijaz Ahmad Jan with and members Dr. Mustafa Kamaal, Peer Afaaq Ahmad, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Sukhnandan Kumar, Baldev Raj, Bharat Bushan and Bimla Luthra also interacted with the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Responding to the issues deliberated in the meeting, Mira Kumar assured the Ethics Committee members of full support and said that ancient Kashmiri language books, including those of revered saints Lel-Ded and Sheikh Noor-u-Din Wali (RA) would be kept in the Parliament Library.
