Gul extends support to admn in COVID mitigation efforts

SRINAGAR, May 31: Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Society (JKRDS) and former Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today extended support to Jammu and Kashmir administration in mitigation of COVID-19.
He said that JKRDS will provide five to seven volunteers from each district of J&K who will work hand in hand with the district administration for carrying out various activities to contain further spread of deadly virus.
Mubarak Gul made these remarks while chairing an online meeting to review the functioning of JKRDS during which he interacted with functionaries from all districts of J&K. The meeting was attended by vice chairman and former minister Babu Rampal, Krishan Lal Abrol, Qazi Jalal-ud-Din, Ashok Koul, Haji Mohammad Maqbool Mir and others.
During the meeting, Mubarak Gul reviewed functioning of JKRDS and also sought feedback from its members while instructing them to reach out to people in these tough times and help them in whatever ways possible. The JKRDS formed ‘People’s Help Group’ with the purpose to assist Jammu and Kashmir administration in mitigation of COVID-19. Through this initiative five to seven volunteers from each district will work with the district administration voluntarily.
It was informed that the group will continue to work for various social causes in future. It will also assist the administration during natural calamities and disasters.
The members of the JKRDS unanimously appealed to the administration to speed up the vaccination drive throughout Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh especially Gujjar and Bakerwal community, high risk, young adults and demanded up gradation of health institutes in far flung areas.
The issues faced by the transporters also came up during the meeting. It was observed that the transporters were badly hit from the last few years and they should be provided relief and assistance from the government.
