Gujjars attack police at Ramgarh, 2 injured

SAMBA, Apr 20: A cop and a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member were injured after they were attacked during a Nakka duty for maintaining lockdown and social distancing by three Gujjar youth at village Kolpur in Ramgarh Sector of Samba district today.
As per reports, while the cop and VDC member were on duty on a Nakka at Kolpur –Basantar in Ramgarh Sector, they stopped the Gujjar youth coming on a bike which was without number plate. As the police asked the youth to show the documents of the bike they (youth) turned violent and started pelting stones on the nakka party. Both the cop and VDC member were injured in stone pelting. The VDC member received serious injuries and his leg got also fractured.
He was rushed to Vijaypur Emergency Hospital for treatment.  However the Gujjar youth managed to escape on motorcycle. Soon after receiving the information SHO Ramgarh, Chaman Gorkha along with police team also rushed to the spot and started search operation.
The injured have been identified as ASI Narinder Singh and VDC Member Suraj Singh.
After receiving information that the nakka party of police was attacked, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak also visited Kolpur to take stock of the situation.
The Ramgarh police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started manhunt to arrest the absconding youth.
