The girls, who had arrived from Nagrota to study at the Model Girls High Secondary School in Rajouri, gathered at Panja Chowk in the town and started a protest by blocking the Rajouri -Kandi-Budhal road. The protesting girls from class 9th to 12th were demanding deployment of RTC bus from Nagrota to Rajouri and back.
Angry girls told that they do not get vehicles/ buses/ mini-buses to reach school in Rajouri town from hostel the morning and reach back to hostel after school time. The local mini-bus operators ignore them and usually do not stop. Their precious time is wasted while waiting for a public transport.
The girls claimed that they reach hostel back many time, walking about 5 to 6 kms. Due to lack of transport facility they are unable to reach school on time and often miss classes. They told that apart from the lack of vehicles, they have not been provided tuition teacher facility in the hostels, due to which they are facing difficulties in their studies. They further alleged that no concerned senior official ever reached their hostel to check the facilities available in the hostel and their difficulties.
After about an hour of demonstration, SHO Rajouri Farid Ahmed reached the spot along with the police force and tried to pacify the protesting girls.
Later, they reached up to DC office gate and protested there in support of their demand. Later, getting no response from the Administration they dispersed.
