JAMMU, Dec 19 : While congratulating the party cadre and AICC president Rahul Gandhi for Party’s better performance in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today said that Gujarat elections have proved turning point in country’s politics.
In a press statement here today, PCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said that BJP might claim the marginal victory of figures to retain power in Gujarat and form government in Himachal Pradesh but it has no moral victory, after its worst ever performance since 1995 in Gujarat, the home State of Prime Minister Narinder Modi and National president of BJP, Amit Shah, while in Himachal its Chief Ministerial face and the State BJP president lost own elections.
He said that BJP leadership had been claiming a target of 150 seats in this elections, as in the past its tally always ranged between 115 to 127 but the party had to finish in two digit figure with over dozen seats with the very close margin besides losing 11% of its vote share as compared to 2014 elections, while the Congress increased its vote share considerably besides increasing its tally from the 43 members finally left out in last Assembly after several engineered defections to 80 in the new House.
