GST on differently abled

Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘GST impact on differently abled’ DE July 5.
The author has raised an important issue which needs to be taken note of by the Central Government authorities dealing with GST. The implementation of GST may make articles like wheel chair, Brailee paper more expensive. The expenses incurred will be beyond the reach of these people. Earlier, these articles were exempted from any form of excise and customs duty. The Government should have left these items as they were and not brought them under the ambit of GST. All differently abled people do not have job’s or are earning their two square meals, most of these people are dependent on their kith and kin and in some cases on Government assistance. The five percent tax imposition will make them more dependent on others and this will make them more aggrieved rather than feel happy and self-dependent.
Keeping the sensitivity of the matter in view, it is requested to the authorities to roll back GST on items pertaining to physically challenged people in India.
Yours etc….
