GSLV-F11 carrying GSAT-7A lifts off from SHAR Range

SRIHARIKOTA: ISRO’s fourth generation launch vehicle GSLV-F11 carrying the advanced Military communication Satellite GSAT-7A, meant exclusively for the Indian Air Force (IAF), lifts off from the SHAR Range, here, at 1610 hrs on Wednesday.

After a 26-hour countdown, the GSLV-F11, in its 13th flight, soared into clear skies from the Second Launch pad, belching orange fumes and with a rumble that shook the earth.
ISRO Scientists at the Mission Control Centre, including its  Chairman Dr K Sivan, were watching the course of the flight with bated breath.

About 19 minutes after lift off, the 2,250 kg GSAT-7A would get separated from the launch vehicle and injected into the orbit.

This was a record seventh mission for ISRO in 2018.This is the seventh flight of the GSLV Mk-II with indigenous cryogenic stage and the third successive successful GSLV mission this year.(AGENCIES)
