Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a party’s bike rally here today Thakur said the controversial Articles, 370 and 35-A which were a great impediment in the progress and prosperity of erstwhile State have now gone once forever. He said Kashmir which was once the hub of terrorism and stone pelting is fast returning to normalcy with the pro people policies of Modi Government.
He said the development in J&K was put at halt during Congress time which ruled the country for about six decades.
Thakur said after August 2019 the tourist influx has increased in Kashmir manifold and last year a record number of over two crore tourists from different parts of country and abroad visited Kashmir. Maintaining that J&K is on the path of development and prosperity under Modi, he said 45,000 people lost their lives during terrorism in erstwhile State for which Congress and its allies are responsible.
He, while highlighting the changes which took place in J&K post annulling of 370 and 35 A said besides record influx of tourists, the investment in the UT increased, avenues of employment generation increased, the carpet, Shawl and other local industry got an impetus.
Highlighting the public welfare and pro-people policies of Modi Government, Thakur said Modi constructed four crore pacca houses for people, 13 crore households were given water connection, 60 crore people got free treatment under Ayushman Bharat scheme and 80 crore people got free ration.
Giving credit to PM for granting 33 percent reservation to women from Legislative Assemblies to Parliament, he said this is a big step towards women empowerment. He accused the Congress of opposing the Women Bill brought by Modi Government.
Thakur, while lambasting Congress party took serious exception to one of the party spokesperson’s objectionable comment on BJP woman Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He demanded an apology from the party on this unfortunate comment. This shows the anti-women mindset of Congress, he added.
Thakur also accused dynastic parties of giving misleading statements and said that those parties which looted the State exchequer for decades together saw that people are leaving terror and becoming nationalists are pained as the chances of their dynasties coming to power have now been over.
Thakur said the cinemas have been opened in Kashmir and sports activities have been started at a large scale which shows a total change has taken place in Kashmir now.
He said people of J&K who were deprived of development for decades together by Congress and other dynastic parties have now realised what development is in real sense.
On holding of Assembly elections in the UT, he said it is the prerogative of Election Commission to decide on holding of Assembly poll in the UT. While reiterating Government’s commitment on holding of Assembly poll in the UT, he said EC will review the situation and elections will be held as per the commitment.
Thakur, while seeking the vote for Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who is candidate from Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency expressed the hope that people this time will break the previous record. He said PM Modi has such a love for J&K people that after the victory of Dr Jitendra Singh in 2014 he was given an important assignment in PMO.
He said Dr Jitendra Singh worked with dedication and honesty and took keen interest not only in the development of his constituency but UT as a whole.
Thakur, who was on a visit to Jammu today participated in a bike rally and attended the organizational meeting at the BJP office (Udhampur). The rally was organised by senior BJP vice president, Pawan Khajuria and among others BJP chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi and district president Kathua also participated in it.
Later, he addressed a party meeting in the town which among others was addressed by former Minister, Pawan Gupta, ex MLAs, Balwant Singh Mankotia and R S Pathania and other local leaders of the party.
Later in the evening, Anurag Thakur visited IIM Jammu followed by participating in the Vikas Bharat Ambassador programme organized at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Citing the example of RJD leader, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Anurag Thakur highlighted a parallel in the case of Arvind Kejriwal. Thakur pointed out that during Lalu Yadav’s involvement in the fodder scam, Rabri Devi used to speak on his behalf, eventually assuming his position, the same is happening in Kejriwal’s case.
Kejriwal, once an advocate for morality and anti-corruption efforts, finds himself embroiled in corruption allegations today, with his party, the Aam Aadmi Party, deeply entangled. Despite being in jail, Kejriwal’s ambition for the CM position remains steadfast, with his corruption allegations breaking records. Furthermore, Thakur criticized CM Mamata Banerjee, stating that despite being a woman herself, she has failed to safeguard women in her State and instead she is offering protection to corrupt individuals and rapists.
Anurag Thakur further added, “Arvind Kejriwal used to say that I am against corruption and will not enter politics. However, he now finds himself and his Aam Aadmi Party entangled in the web of corruption. This is the same individual who once staged protests against the Congress. Today, Kejriwal and his party have plummeted into the depths of corruption, with their Deputy Chief Minister, Education Minister, Health Minister, MP, councillor and now CM Kejriwal, the kingpin of liquor scam himself behind the bars. His reign of anarchy and corruption has led him to this fate.
Targeting the Congress, Anurag Thakur said, “Today, the Congress must introspect, have they sold their conscience too? Kejriwal earlier used to demand the arrest of Sonia Gandhi, but all the corrupt forces are in cahoots today. The question is what prompted this drastic change? Why is Congress aligning today with Kejriwal’s corruption? Where are the Congress leaders who, until recently, advocated for legal action in the liquor scam? Today, they are rallying in support of someone who has shattered all corruption records. Does Congress perceive Arvind Kejriwal as innocent?”
