KISHTWAR, May 19: With an aim to help and support the District administration in its fight against COVID-19, the GREF, 118 RCC/35 BRTF/ Project Beacon today handed over 500 cotton face masks stitched by GREF unit to District Magistrate Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara for further distribution among the frontline workers and the needy ones.
This donation has come at a time when Kishtwar administration has made wearing of face masks mandatory for all persons venturing out of their homes.
The event also commemorated the supreme sacrifice of Late Ved Raj, Casual paid labourers of 118 RCC (GREF),who died in an accident on May 1, 2020 while clearing a land slide on Galhar-Sansari road near Tiyari.
The GREF authorities have also made voluntary contribution of Rs. 1,26,000 to the family members of the deceased.
The money was provided through a cheque of Rs 81,000/- and cash of Rs 45,000/- by DM Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara, in presence of General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) authorities and representatives of Village Tiyari Paddar.
The GREF authorities informed that the compensation amount of approximately Rs.16 lakh will also be paid soon to the NOK of the deceased as per Employee’s compensation Act.
Others who present on the occasion were Lt Col Shiv Bahadur Singh, OC 118 RCC (GREF), Kishtwar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar, Dr Amir Hussain, Assistant Labour Commissioner Kishtwar, Anoop Kumar, and AE (Civ),OIC Dett Swas Shri S K Rajak.
