JAMMU, Dec 20: Mechanical Engineering Graduates of the State have urged upon the State Government to take action against such candidates who have obtained degrees from the unrecognized institutes.
A group of Mechanical Engineers from the PHE, I&FC Department producing a copy of Supreme Court directives and documents from J&K Public Service Commission and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), told the Excelsior that about 35 odd diploma holders in the PHE Department managed promotions after producing degree from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (India) Mumbai.
They further pointed out that as per the record, it is amply clear that this is basically a registered society and is not even approved by the AICTE. Therefore, such candidates having this degree, managed to obtain promotions after manipulating at various levels in the State Government. They have deprived many deserving and genuine degree engineers of their legitimate right of promotion.
From the record produced it was found that surprisingly those who have claimed to have shown year of passing degree examination in 1995, have submitted the same after the lapse of ten years in 2005. Similarly, some others have submitted the degree after four to six years, which is needed to be verified and investigated by a Government agency.
They have appealed to the State Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Chief Secretary B B Vyas to hold independent inquiry into the matter and take action against such promotee AEs, AEEs and Executive Engineers who have produced fraudulent/ invalid degrees. Even some of them have been accorded pension benefit as well after promotions. They all should be demoted and action under law be taken against them, they asserted.
