Govt’s initiatives going to change developmental narrative: DyCM

JAMMU, Dec 17: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the achievements registered by the Coalition Government during last three years are going to change the development narrative in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering at Billawar in district Kathua here today.
While enumerating the achievements registered in different sectors, the Deputy Chief Minister said these are monumental and speak about the endeavor of both Central and State Governments to usher an era of developmental activities in the State, which were otherwise not been taken on a war footing basis. He said that the necessary funds are being made available to the executing agencies so that they do not face any inconvenience and the works are completed within the stipulated time lines.
Dr Singh while appealing the people to participate in the upcoming Panchayati polls said that panchayats will accelerate the grass root development of the rural and far flung areas of the State besides ensuring that the effective decentralization of powers takes place which is very essential in a democratic set up as people get involved in implementation and formulation of development plans. He said the development of villages would get accelerated as the area specific and need based developmental activities would be undertaken.
While referring to the developmental activities undertaken in Billawar, the Deputy Chief Minister said that works to the tune of Rs 500 crore are underway which would ensure that holistic and sustained development of this area takes place. He said that a massive program of road connectivity has been undertaken by way of which 21 new roads would be constructed under PMGSY with an estimated cost of Rs 105 crore to ensure connectivity to different unconnected villages and hamlets.
‘An amount of Rs. 19.5 crore has been earmarked for double lanning of the road from Billawar to Sukrala under CRF”, said the Deputy Chief Minister maintaining that road connectivity has been improved to a large extent besides ensuring  macadamisation of all the major ones in the constituency and district as whole. He said that several other mega projects have been undertaken in different sectors as well which will ensure that it comes up as a model constituency of the State and country as well.
MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal, prominent political activists, senior leaders like Ashok Koul, Advocate Vijay Sharma, prominent persons of district Kathua were also present on the occasion.
