JAMMU, Mar 8: The State Government today ordered stop using single use plastic water bottles in its offices keeping in view its adverse impact on health and to avoid environmental hazards.
“All Government offices/Board/ Corporations/ Autonomous Bodies/ Universities in the State of Jammu and Kashmir shall dispense with the use of single use plastic water bottles in their respective offices and make alternate arrangements for safe drinking water that does not generate plastic waste,” says the Government order in this regard.
Maintaining that only multi-use water bottles/dispensers/ containers will be allowed in Government offices, instead water bottles of alternative materials like glass, steel, aluminum etc may be used, the order further says that all the concerned departments/organizations will ensure compliance of the direction in letter and spirit.
