Srinagar, June 14: With the Middle East crisis deepening, the Government is working on the evacuation of Kashmiri students from Iran as the administration has collected the details of the students studying there.
The Administration across Kashmir today asked the parents of the students studying in Iran to furnish details of their wards and addresses so that they can be safely evacuated.
Earlier parents of J&K students, mostly medicos, studying in Iran called on the Government to ensure their immediate and safe evacuation.
In a letter written to the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, as well as the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, the parents and guardians of these students said that the situation on the ground is becoming increasingly alarming.

“As you are aware, the present war-like situation and escalating tensions in Iran have created a state of fear, uncertainty, and distress, particularly for foreign nationals residing in the country, including our children.”
These students, the letter stated, are enrolled in various disciplines across universities in Iran, such as religious studies, medicine, and engineering, and have been living there for the sake of education and academic growth.
“However, given the prevailing geopolitical instability, risk to civilian safety, and potential disruption of essential services, the situation on the ground is becoming increasingly alarming,” it stated.
The lack of clarity and secure communication, the parents said, has left them extremely anxious for the well-being of their children.
“We humbly request your kind intervention in raising this matter at the appropriate platforms, including with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and other concerned authorities, to facilitate the safe and immediate evacuation of all Indian, particularly Kashmiri students stranded in Iran.”
The parents stated that their children are pursuing higher education in the Islamic Republic of Iran and are writing the letter with “deep concern and urgency.”
Meanwhile, Member Parliament from Srinagar and senior National Conference leader Agha Ruhullah today said that he has taken up the matter with the Minister of External Affairs.
PDP leader Iltija Mufti also urged the Government to act and bring those stranded in Iran back home.
The J&K Students Association has also written to the EAM, seeking urgent intervention for the evacuation of hundreds of Kashmiri students stranded in Iran amid the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.
The association stressed the need for a comprehensive evacuation plan to be prepared and kept ready.
“If the situation continues to escalate… timely evacuation could mean the difference between life and death. The Government must remain prepared to act swiftly and decisively to ensure the safe return of Indian citizens,” it said.
