ANANTNAG, Dec 3: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir today expressed the resolve and determination of the Government to develop all regions in the State particularly far flung and remote areas.
Addressing series of public meetings at Shishtirgam, Hillar, Changoo and Lowermunda in Dooru , the Minister said Government has shaped its development initiative in such a manner that the far flung and remote areas get their due share. He said political executives and senior Government functionaries regularly visit these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the State.
Mr. Mir said the present Government is working hard to improve the lot of people particularly those living below poverty line, in rural and far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society for whom many schemes and programmes are in vogue.
The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government. He said laying modern tourist related infrastructure, exploring virgin potential spots and creation of adventure activities initiated in all the regions of the, would give boost to tourism, beneficial for economic transformation of the people. He said similarly in other sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K has seen distinctive growth and progress.
The Minister asked the people to remain cautious of the designs of vested interest groups who create division among people in the name of catchy slogans and ideas. He said their aim is just to deceive the credulous and innocent people and not to make any positive contribution to people’s lives.
Responding to the demands of the people, the Minister said to cater the drinking water requirement in Hillar and its adjacent areas, the Government has approved construction of WSS Hillar at a cost of Rs. 3.75, crore adding that work on this project would be started soon after completing all codal formalities. He said to upgrade the road connectivity in the Constituency several DPRs have been submitted to the Centre for approval of funds under PMGSY, adding that new sub-health centers would be also opened in the Constituency under NRHM.
