JAMMU : The Government has constituted committees to examine and keep a check on fee structure in private Schools and nursing homes.
In this regard, the government has issued an order here today.
Following the directions of Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology Department Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, the department of FCS&CA issued in order in this regard.
For the issues pertaining to regulation of fee structure in Private Schools, a two member committee comprising Seema Khajuria Shekhar, Senior Additional Advocate General as Chairperson and Manoj Prabhakar, Magistrate / Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Jammu as Nodal Officer has been constituted.
Besides, the department has constituted two member committee comprising Chander Gulati, Member Consumer Protection Council as Chairman of the Committee while Atul Gupta, Deputy Director, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Jammu as Nodal Officer to examine the issue of charges in Nursing Homes.
Both these Committees have been asked to submit the report within one month.
Expressing concern over irregularities in fee structure in private schools operating in the state and charges being imposed by Nursing Homes, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said this pertains directly to the consumers and no compromise would be made in this regard. He said several Private Schools are charging fees as per their choice and there is no control on the same. He said there is need to follow some criteria in fixing fees so that Consumers do not get fleeced. He added that similar is the case with Private Nursing Homes and Diagnostic Laboratories who are charging hefty amount from the Consumers. He added that government will not allow this practice and they want to regulate Private School fee and charges of Private Nursing Homes for the benefit of general masses.
