JAMMU, May 4: All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch celebrated Lord Buddha and Baba Saheb Dr. B. R Ambedkar Jayanti in a function organized in the premises of Guru Nabha Dass Community Hall at Dogra Hall here today.
On the occasion, the Minister for CAPD Ch. Zulfkar Ali was the chief guest besides MLA Chamb, MLA Samba and President All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister threw light on the significant role played by Baba Sahib for the welfare of the weaker section, poors and downtrodden. He recalled Baba Sahib Dr. B.R Ambedkar as a great social reformer and legal luminary who played a pivotal role in framing the Constitution of India.
He also remembered Dr. Ambedkar’s great contribution in public welfare, upliftment of the poor, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society.
All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch through its president Sham Lal Bassan presented a charter of demands to the Minister for their early redressal. The demands include provision of reservation in contractual adhoc appointments ReT’S, REZ’S, NRHM, Anganwadi workers/ Helpers, representation in Legislative Council and due share in Council of Ministers, changing of nomenclature, provision of colonies for houseless, landless poor scheduled caste families, constitution of State SC/ ST Commission, etc.
Zulfkar assured the All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch that all their genuine demands would be redressed in a phased manner.
RK Kalsotra, ND Rajwal, Narinder Dutt, Behari Lal Bhagat, Bansi Lal Bharti, Dr Kuldeep Raj, Ram Lal Dogra, Kesar Singh, Parshotam Thappa, Faquir Chand and many others also spoke on the occasion.
