Govt websites to be translated in 12 regional languages: IT Min

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology and Law and  Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad  today said around 100 Government websites will be translated into 12 regional languages.

This, he said, would increase its outreach to citizens in the languages they are most comfortable with. The Government, in turn, will also award the translator.

Addressing mediapersons, while launching the website on completion of three years of the Narendra Modi Government on MyGov here, the Minister said, ”Through this initiative we aim to increase participative governance.”

Mr Prasad also appealed to the youths to use the platform for the progress of the country. He said, ”These initiatives of the digital involvement of more and more people is basically a unique model for the world.” ”With ‘Digital India’, we are also promoting ‘Digital Pratispardha’ and ‘Digital Sahbhagita’,” the Minister added.
