SRINAGAR, June 13: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that the Government was using agencies to harass the leaders of the opposition.
Talking to media persons here, Mehbooba said that the BJP-led Government has made the agencies their “alliance partners” to intimidate those raising voices against the Government
“Those who are raising voices, are being harassed as is being Rahul Gandhi as he is raising his voice for people, and now they are being dragged into such cases. This is a politics of revenge,” she said.

She termed the Enforcement Directorate’s summon to Congress leaders a “political witch hunt used to silence them.”
Mehbooba said that India used to be known for secularism, “but BJP has destroyed it; a particular minority community is being alienated across the country and when they raise their voice they are either shot or lynched.”
She said that while all this is happening in the country, “the judiciary is watching silently.”
On the issue of Nupur Sharma’s comments, Mehbooba said that in J&K if journalists speak the truth, “they are being arrested, slapped with UAPA, but no action has been taken against Nupur Sharma”.
The former Chief Minister said that Nupur Sharma made the comments to provoke the Muslims “so that the Government is provided with a chance to harass them. The comments which she made were strategic.”
On handling of the J&K situation, Mehbooba said that the Government has no policy apart from using force. “They only know how to harass people. Their policy is not working, and what is happening is that educated people are taking up guns despite knowing that they would be killed anytime.”
