Govt urged for implementation of Guest Control Act

JAMMU, Aug 9: A meeting of various Sabhas and Biradries was held at Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, wherein social evils prevailing in the society were largely discussed by the speakers, who also urged the Government for implementation of Guest Control Act.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of president, Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Vinod Kumar Gupta, and was attended by heads or representatives of various Sabhas and Biradries.
The issues which came up for discussion in the meeting included dowry system, cocktail parties, exploding of crackers, drug abuse, large number of participants in the Barat and other functions, etc. The speakers condemned all these social evils prevailing in the society and decided to encourage simple and day time marriage. The participants also put forward their valuable suggestions for the betterment of the society.
It was unanimously adopted by all the participants that Government should be approached to implement Guest Control Act, in letter and spirit. “It will not only curtail the over expenditure being incurred in the marriages and other functions but also save the poor lot, who could not afford such expenditure in marriage and other functions”, they maintained.
The meeting also resolved to undertake door to door campaign to aware the masses about such social evils and stand up against these social menaces.
Those who participated in the meeting were president, Dogra Brahmin Sabha, VP Sharma, Sat Paul from Saryara Sadar Sabha, Kamal Kumar, president, Barwala Biradri, RN Gandotra, president, Dogra Khatri Sabha, and representatives or heads of Praja Pati Sabha, Nanak Nagar Sabha, Jain Sabha, Khajuria Biradri, Kashyap Rajput Sabha, All J&K Mahasha Sabha, Guru Nabha Dass Trust, Rajput Sabha Jammu, Aggarwal Sabha, Channi Himmat Sabha, Vishawa Karma Sabha Jammu, Jaat Kalyan Sabha, etc.
