Govt urged to ensure free medical treatment of BPL patients

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 24: Interaction Forum Jammu Province has urged the State Government to ensure that the BPL category patients get free medical treatment, medicines, medical tests etc in the Government run hospitals.
In a statement,  IFJP  secretary general Capt Lalit Kumar Sharma alleged that despite Government order  number 720-HME, dated 08-01-2002, wherein the BPL people have been exempted from any medical charges in Govt hospitals, the BPL category patients were not getting the same benefit and thus suffering because of their financial constraints.
The IFJP also appealed the Government to review the issuance of BPL category certificates to the deserving so that all the families falling below the poverty line are included in the category for extending benefits of the schemes for them.
