JAMMU, June 23: In an attempt to reach out people of hilly and rural areas and address their problems at their doorsteps, Minister for PHE, Irrigation Flood & Control, Sham Lal Sharma, inspected status of various development projects and reviewed implementation of central and state welfare schemes during his 2-day tour of his home constituency.
The Minister also addressed series of public meetings and also listened to the demands of local deputations during the tour.
On his way, the Minister took stock of various projects being executed in Chowki Choura area, including under construction double storey hospital building, irrigation dam, under construction tube well and link road at village Heela, upper Hardu Malara, Mohalla Rewa Ram and Mohalla Badok inspected new circular road at Mohalla Kali Mata Mandir and link road at Mohalla Dev Raj Sarpanch, inspection of under construction Panchayat Ghar & road from Dokhada to Makara via newly constructed bridge at Bambli (Salyote).
The Minister also inspected pace of progress on the under construction Rs.3.18 crore, 50 bedded Emergency Hospital at Chowki Choura and was told that Rs.1.50 crore have been expended on the project till date. He instructed executive agencies PWD (R&B) to complete these prestigious projects within one year period.
At Sunderbani, Sham took stock of water supply scenario in the town and visited the site of intake filtration plant being developed for the town at an estimated cost of Rs.9.30 crore. He was informed that the intake filtration plant would be ready for commissioning this year. The Minister directed the executive agency to complete the project before Diwali so that the people of the town and surrounding areas get sufficient quantity of safe drinking water. He also took review meeting of the ongoing water supply schemes at Bujwal and adjoining areas at Sunderbani.
Various deputations also met the Minister on way and Dak Bungalow Sunderbani and apprised him about their difficulties and problems which were mainly related to PHE, Power and CAPD. The Minister assured them that their genuine demands will be redressed in a phased manner.
The Minister also addressed a public meeting at Thandapani and Bal Shama alongwith MLC Ravinder Sharma. The Sarpanchs and the local putforth various demands particularly better dirking water supply, construction of tube well and hand pump, besides check dam.
The Minister gave instruction to SE Hydraulic and XEn Ground Water Division Rajouri to explore the possibility of digging a tube well and construction of big & small check dams in the area.
