SRINAGAR: Government today asserted that it will formulate a comprehensive policy for development of sports infrastructure, including setting up of indoor stadiums, in left out districts of the State.
Intervening during Question Hour, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said Government also intends to establish indoor stadia in all left-out districts of the State. He said that in this regard a Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be formulated and submitted to the concerned Union Ministry for approval of funds.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports Sunil Kumar in reply to the main question of MLA Shakti Raj Parihar, said 12 indoor sports halls are to be constructed in nine districts including Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, Leh, Kargil, Samba, Kuthua and Rajouri.
The Minister said under PM’s Package, the Union Ministry of Youth Services and Sports has granted sanction for 12 indoor halls only. He said that the criteria adopted for selection of the districts by and large are on the basis of non-availability of indoor halls in these areas. (AGENCIES)
