Govt to add more services at Kidmat centres: Feroz

JAMMU, Apr 8: The Information Technology and Science Technology (IT&ST) Department has mooted a project plan to upgrade the Kidmat centres by connecting these with district, divisional and State level headquarters to facilitate the people of remote areas to get information about various services and schemes being offered by the Government.
The information was given at a meeting of the department functionaries chaired by the Minister of State for Information Technology and Science Technology (IT&ST), Feroz Ahmad Khan here today.
The meeting was told that the proposed project aims at to make available more online services at Kidmat centres including the information about disbursement of old age pension, registration of un-employed youth, sanctioning of development and welfare schemes for a particular area , lodging of complaints, filing of application for issuance of Voter Identity Card , besides strengthening the services already being offered at these centres, including payment of power and telephone bills, booking of railway and air tickets, besides other services.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed the need to promote e-governance in the State by connecting the Government set ups at all levels. He also reviewed the pace of progress in the implementation of various projects being implemented by the department to achieve the goal of e-governance in the State.
The meeting was informed that IT sector is growing fast in the State and has proved a very effective tool in the development of society and growth of economy. There are 801 CSC’s (Khidmat Centres) functioning all over in the State, the meeting was informed.
The Minister directed the officers to work in unison and coordinate with other departments so that the scheme launched by the Government are implemented in letter and spirit for the benefit of the masses living in urban as well as rural areas.
Commissioner Secretary IT, ST Vipul Pathak, System Executive Dara Singh, Incharge, State e-Mission, Shafqat and senior officers of Science Technology and Information Technology Departments attended the meeting.
