JAMMU, Oct 30: In a people friendly decision, the Power Development Department has slashed Electricity Duty on the power tariff being charged from the consumers with immediate effect.
Till now, the Power Development Department was charging 22% Electricity Duty from the consumers and from now onwards only 10% duty would be charged.
This decision has been taken while exercising the powers conferred by Sub-Section (1) of Section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Electricity Duty Act, 1963 and in partial modification of Notification SRO-566 dated October 25, 1984.
An order regarding slashing of Electricity Duty has been issued by the Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Power Develo-pment Department.
